22 October 2013 - Opening Ceremony
The National Chess in School Conference is an annual event that has become a tradition. Together with the 3rd Chess Festival of Jiangnan Primary School, this year’s conference started on 22 October 2013, at 9.00 am sharp! The outdoor opening ceremony was amazing. When I arrived there I was received by very high authorities of Chongqing State, one of China’s provincial capitals. I want to underline that the population of Chongqing is more than 34,000,000(!).  Mr. Li Jingyu (on left) Chairman of Nan'an District Education Commission, and Mr. Mo receive me in JPS.
Be ready! One primary school, 2.000 beautiful children, everybody plays chess! That is China!  The Mayor of Nan'an District and Nan'an District Standing Committee, H.E. Zheng Xiangdong, introduces me to a very famous Chinese person (on the right) in the chess world, and he mentions that chess in schools is so important for his municipality. GM Ye Jiangchuan, Vice President and Secretary General of the Chinese Chess Association, coach and innovator who has produced many Chinese talents. Head Master of JPS Mrs.Tian Qi stands between Mr. Xiangdong and Jiangchuan.  GM Jiangchuan is hunting new talents for Chinese Chess Association...  GM Zhong, GM Jiangchuan and Head Master of JPS Mrs. Qi are proudly explaining to Mr. Xiangdong the JPS Chess in School Program. Outstandingly excellent! Kirsan, you should be proud of what you have achieved in developing world chess! This is one of the best examples! I was overwhelmed and words fail me at this point...  Everybody plays chess...  mascot of JPS: blue is a boy yellow is a girl...  We exchange ideas with the Mayor, H.E. Zheng Xiangdong... children are like flowers....
