Grandmaster Levon Aronian made a fantastic come-back after a string of average results by convincingly winning the 3rd Annual Sinquefield Cup that was held from 22nd August to 2nd September in Saint Louis, USA.

Aronian completed the event with 6 points from 9 games, leaving the nearest followers a full point behind.

In the only decisive game of the final round the local star Hikaru Nakamura defeated Alexander Grischuk.

The Sinquefield Cup is the second leg of the Grand Chess Tour.

1. GM Aronian Levon (2765) - 6,0
2-5. GM Carlsen Magnus (2853), GM Nakamura Hikaru (2814), GM Vachier-Lagrave Maxime (2731) and GM Giri Anish (2793) - 5,0
6-7. GM Grischuk Alexander (2771) and GM Topalov Veselin (2816) - 4,5
8-9. GM Caruana Fabiano (2808) and GM Anand Viswanathan (2816) - 3,5
10. GM So Wesley (2779) - 3,0
