XII International Open de Sants, Hostafrancs & La Bordeta was held from 20th to 29th August at Auditori del Centre Cívic de les Cotxeres de Sants, 79 Sants st, and other halls nearby, in Barcelona.

615 players took part in two tournaments, which is a new record for Open de Sants, for a second year in succession. Open A was for players rated 2000 and above, while the lower rated players had option to enter Open B, which was also popular with more than 280 signups, or join the Open A.

After ten rounds of play, Israeli Grandmaster Maxim Rodshtein won a clear first place with 8.5 points. Joint second with 8.0 points were top-seeded GM Tomasz Markowski, FM Orelvis Perez Mitjans, GM Florian Handke and GM Fernando Peralta.

In the Open B, Garcia-Castany Musellas and Garnica Nebot Esteve shared the first place with 8.5 points each.

Sants Open Tournament was the last category A special open that will give points for the Catalan Circuit Rating "Generalitat de Catalunya Prize".
