XII International Open de Sants, Hostafrancs & La Bordeta is set to take place from 20th to 29th August at Auditori del Centre Cívic de les Cotxeres de Sants, 79 Sants st, and other halls nearby, in Barcelona. Swiss FIDE System at ten rounds.

Around 670 players are expected to take part in two tournaments, which is another record for this event, second year in succession. Open A is for players rated 2000 and above, while the lower rated players can opt for Open B, which is also popular with more than 250 signups, or join the Open A.

Top rated are Grandmasters Tomasz Markowski (POL 2628), Robert Kempinski (POL 2612), Maxim Rodshtein (ISR 2609), Nidjat Mamedov (AZE 2604), Dmitry Kryakvin (RUS 2603), Mark Bluvshtein (CAN 2583) and Friso Nijboer (NED 2582).     

Catalan Master Rubén Martín will perform a simultaneous exhibition in the foyer of Sants's Station on August 26 at 11 a.m.

Sants Open Tournament will be the last category A special open that will give points for the Catalan Circuit Rating "Generalitat de Catalunya Prize".
