Great Chess Festival as part of culture in Budapest
The Budapest Spring Festival is one of the biggest cultural events in Europe. It will be the 37th occasion when music, ballet, dance, opera and a lot of other exhibitions and shows in almost all segments of culture will be on stage this spring again in Budapest from 31st March to 23rd April 2017.
We are happy to announce that as an introduction to all culture, a grandiose chess festival has been adopted as an official part of the series of unique cultural events.
This way the main patron of the event is the Lord Mayor of Budapest Mr. Tarlos Istvan.
Another significant supporter of the chess contest is Mr. Revesz Mariusz not only as President of the Budapest Chess Federation but as Government Committee Chairman of Leisure and Recreation.
The grand Chess Festival takes place from 18-26th March in one of the most modern, imposing exhibition hall named Bálna (The Whale), which is located at the bank of the River Danube (Duna) in a central place of Budapest.

Since there is an attractive prize fund too and the main tournament is for players with FIDE rating over 2200 only, GM, IM, WGM and WIM norms will be available on the event organized in 9 rounds Swiss System.
Budapest awaits its dear guests with kind hospitality and with rich cultural offers all over springtime.
