Khan Wins Asian Seniors-65

IM Wazeer Ahmad Khan of India won the gold medal in the 7th Asian Seniors 65 Championship held 27 October to 4 November 2016 in Mandalay, Myanmar followed by silver medalist Saw Kyam Nyein of Myanmar and bronze medalist Robert Gibbons of New Zealand.

Twelve countries were represented in the tournaments of 38 players in the over-50 category and 18 players in the over-65 category.

Myint Han of Myanmar won the under-50 category alone with 8 points in the 9-round Swiss. Tied at 7.5 points each were defending champion IM Mahmood Lodhi of Pakistan who won silver and IM Mohandesi Shahin of Iran who won the bronze medal after tie break.
