A mind games genius won First Saturday Budapest November GM tournament

Aczel Gergely (HUN) a player of Aquaprofit Nagykanizsa chess club, the Hungarian National Team Champion, hit his firs GM norm but surprisingly he is much more proud of his different kinds of mind game achievements. He has won the Hungarian National Youth Championship three times in the ancient Japanese game GO. Another ingenious achievement of him came just recently. He won second price in the world famous internet game, Legendary Inventors – Ultimate contest series.

The main trait of the IM section was the run for IM norm of the two leading players.
Their battle came in R7 and victory of the more experienced player Chkhaidze Nikoloz (GEO, 34) lifted him near his goal. Finally he won the last game too leaving no doubt that his achievement was well deserved. Eliseev Evgeniy (UKR) may be consoled with collecting 83 extra rating points.
