The First Saturday monthly events are introduced every month by an international FIDE-rated rapid tournament which gives excellent opportunity for training. The joyful sensation of this special event was the return of leading Hungarian ladies Olympic player Hoang Thanh Trang to the chess arena, after a year break because of the happy reason of giving birth to her first daughter.
WGM-IGM Hoang Trang (HUN), European Women’s Champion (2013)
She won all the games, so we can congratulate her twice. This nice rapid event was the first step of training for the next Chess Olympiad (Baku in September) not only for her but for the Machlik sisters of Norway as well. The three ladies won 62 FIDE rating points against strong male opponents.

Balanced fights at First Saturday Budapest July 2016 events
Four players tied came first in the First Saturday Budapest July GM tournament. Berczes David (HUN) university student in USA usually combines summer holidays with chess. It is the second consecutive summer when he has become the winner of First Saturday GM event. Havasi Gergo (HUN) having 3 IM norms already needs to achieve the magic 2400 FIDE Rating for his IM title and it was a big step towards his goal.
HAVASI Gergő (HUN)
Lalic Bogdan (CRO) put up his usual routine. Natsidis Cristopher (GER) presented a very careful play that was enough to increasing his rating points but a little more risk should have been taken for the IM norm. Grimm Daniel (HUN) has definitely progressed a lot since his last GM tournament and he suffered his only loss in the last round, still fighting for the norm.

There were two more groups running just for FIDE ratings but bringing a lot of interesting games with extremely intense fights.
The next First Saturday organization is going to be the Hotel MEDOSZ Budapest Summer Open 27 July – 02 Aug 2016. It is named after the Hotel which has given ideal home for the First Saturday series for over 6 years by now. This event will be followed shortly (6-16th August) by the First Saturday regular GM, IM, FM tournaments introduced by the usual Rapid Open a day before.
