Ghazala won 5th Pakistan Women National Chess Championship 2016
Ghazala of Sindh wins 5th Pakistan women national Chess Championship 2016 by securing 6/7 points while Saira Rafique of Punjab a student of UVAS got 2nd position with 5.5/7. Defending Champion Zenobia Wasif got 3rd position with 5/7. The championship held from 8-12 May 2016 at Karachi Gymkhana club, Karachi, organized by Chess Federation of Pakistan in collaboration with Sindh Chess Association. That was first ever FIDE rated women national championship with a time control of 90+30 with 7 rounds. On the occasion of Closing Ceremony Provincial minister Sindh Givernment Mr. Mir Hazar Khan and Mr. Abdus Salim President Chess Federation of Pakistan (CFP) were the Chief guests. Mr. Abdul Aziz Khan Senior Vice President CFP, Mr. Wasif Nisar acting General Secretary CFP, Mr. Waqar Ahmad Madni Joint Secretary CFP, Mr. Omer Khan, Mr. Muhammad Aslam, Mr. Samar Hussain and Mr. Gulam Yaseen also attended the ceremony.
Following top five players will represent Pakistan in 42nd World Chess Olympiad in Baku, Azerbaijan.
