Turkmen victory at First Saturday Budapest

It has been the fourth time a Turkmen delegation has come to First Saturday Budapest.
The seven member delegation again as usual was led by GM Annageldyev Orazly who is not only the President of the Turkmen Chess Federation but also trainer of the National team. He got his master trainer degree at the University of Physical Education in Lviv (UKR).
He was also acting as Deputy Chief Arbiter during the event. This visit has been the most successful ever for the Turkmen players.

The winner, Atabayev Maksat took this event as training for the next Chess Olympiad since he will be representing his country at first board in Baku. He has been the National Champion of Turkmenistan several times. Besides the GM group he was the winner of the Rapid Open too.

The only title norm was achieved by another Turkmen player. Atabayev Saparmyrat, the youngest player of the group (17) made his fourth IM norm and got closer to the 2400 minimum IM level.

There were players from four continents.
The American representative, Sarkar Justin (USA) has put up solid, mature play and was only one point away from the GM, while the Australian Tan Justin only half a point away of the IM norm.

The IM group was so peculiarly balanced that the maximum rating change was less than 4 points for all players. The winner O’toole George E, a young mathematician from Essex (ENG) got closest to IM norm but missed it by half a point, because he got tired by the finish.

Radnai Adam (HUN) who has already got an IM norm was again close to it too and could have achieved it had he got little more controlled self- discipline to think longer in some critical positions.

There was only one HUN player in highest rating section Török Tamás Titusz, but like last month, he put up outstanding tactical play again.
The 13 years old Tatarintsev Egor (RUS) very happy he could win 66 FIDE-rating points. He was accompanied by his mother and by his younger brother. Probably we can welcome him in a higher level group next time. We wish he would become a Grandmaster soon. Seeing his great talent it is not difficult to make such predictions.

Group
The traditional group photo, made on 9th May 2016, in the Hotel MEDOSZ

The usual rapid open a day before the main events gave opportunity for amateur players to meet FIDE-Titled masters. The superiority of Turkmen players was overwhelming. Only one young Hungarian player, Füredi Erik (Vasas SC Budapest) could keep up to them. His trainer is WIM Horváth Júlia (HUN) former National Champion of Hungary.
