The FIDE World Amateur Championship, an event growing annually in size, has made a good step in accordance with the expanding interest in the game. New categories, medals and prizes have been added for U1700, U2000, U2300 players, increasing the accessibility to a larger portion of the chess world.

The good conditions and the new rules have collected 140 participants from 46 countries. However, the registration is still open and anyone can still join the event.

This year’s World Amateur is going to take place in the beautiful Anthemus Sea Resort, Chalkidiki, Greece, from 19 to 27 April. Tournament director and Chief arbiter will be the experienced IO Nikos Kalesis and IA Sotiris Logothetis.
