The Bunratty International Chess Festival took place from 19th of February to 21st of February, 2016, at the luxurious Bunratty Castle Hotel, in Ireland.

The Master event was a 6-round Swiss event with time control 90’ + 15” and first prize in the amount of 1,000 EUR.

The English GM Nigel Short emerged a solo winner with 5.5/6 points, leaving the nearest followers a full point behind.

GM Oleg Korneev, IM Richard Bates, GM Gawain Jones and Leopold Le Ruyet tied for the second place at 4.5 points each, but Korneev finished second on a superior tie-break score, while Bates remained third.
