RSSU Chess Cup Moscow Open 2016

The 12th International RSSU Chess Cup Moscow Open 2016 is set to take place from 29th January to 8th February at the Russian State Social University in Moscow, Russia.

The event consists of eight competitions and is organized by the Russian State Social University, Moscow Chess Federation, Management of Sport and Entertainment Activities of Moscow Department for Physical Culture and Sport with the support of the Russian Chess Federation, International School Chess Union, FIDE and ECU.

The best chess festival of the first quarter is gathering around 1700 participants from 38 countries, as revealed in the press conference at the TASS agency.

Alexander Kostyev, the tournament director and the president of Moscow International School Chess Union provided details about “The largest chess lesson” that will be held on January 29 in the RSSU Chess House andwill be nominated for the World Guinness Records. According to him, 250 young chess players will participate in this lesson.

The RSSU Chess Cup Moscow Open 2016 consists of eight separate tournaments:

A Tournament – RSSU Cup, Men’s Cup of Russia Stage, January 30 – February 7
B Tournament – RSSU Cup, Women’s Cup of Russia Stage, January 30 – February 7
C Tournament – RSSU Amateur Cup, selection for World Amateur Championship-2016, January 30 – February 7
D Tournament – RSSU Veteran Cup, selection for World Senior Championship-2016, January 30 – February 7
E Tournament – RSSU University Student Cup, selection for World Amateur Championship-2016, January 29 – February 6
F Tournament – RSSU School Winner Cup, selection for World School Championship-2016, January 29 – February 6
G Tournament – RSSU Blitz Chess Cup, January 31 – February 8
H Tournament – Youth World Championship in Composing, January 30 – February 3

In addition, FIDE seminars for arbiters, trainers, organizers, teachers and supplementary education teachers will run during the Cup as part of development training courses.

The total prize fund for all sections is 4,73 million rubles.
