GM Nguyen and IM Pascua share first at 7th Penang Heritage City International Open Tournament Print

penangThe 7th Penang Heritage City International Open Tournament was held from December 7th to December 12th, 2015, at Red Rock Hotel, in the Malaysian city of Penang.

The event was organized by Penang Chess Association in a 9-round Swiss FIDE format, valid for FIDE rating and norms and a total of 119 participants from 17 different countries participated for the first prize of 8,000 MYR (approximately 1,730 EUR).

GM Duc Hoa Nguyen emerged a winner on a better tie-break score after sharing the first place with IM Haridas Pascua from the Philippines, at 7 points each.

The third place was shared by GM Sang Cao from Vietnam, FM Xiangyi Liu from Singapore, GM Richard Bitoon from the Philippines, FM Narquinden Reyes from the Philippines, GM Chakkravarthy Deepan from India, GM Buenaventura Villamayor from the Philippines and IM Jingyao Tin from Singapore after the whole group finished the event with 6.5 points.
