FM Valderrama wins 20th Carlos Lleras Restrepo Blitz Tournament 2015 Print

ColombiaThe 20th Carlos Lleras Restrepo Blitz Tournament 2015 Blitz Chess Championship was organized by FECODAZ on November 8th, at Centro Recreacional y Vacacional COMFACHOCO Quibdo (Choco), in Colombia.

The event was a double 9-round individual chess tournament with an average Elo rating 2196 and time control 4’ + 2”.

FM Esteban Valderrama Quiceno scored 15/18 points to emerge a convincing winner. He lost only the match against IM Miguel Mosquera (0.5-1.5), drew the duel with IM Joshua D Ruiz C (1-1) and won all the other battles to lift the trophy in competition of 48 players from 17 different countries. The winner added 48 new Elo points to his rating.

The runner-up IM David Arenas collected 14 points, while GM Alder Escobar Forero and IM Andres Felipe Gallego Alcaraz tied for the third place at 12 points. You can see the full standings below.
