The Russian chess player GM Mikhail Antipov beat the representative of Italy IM Francesco Rambaldi in the final 13th round of the FIDE World Junior Under-20 Championship to secure the title World U-20 chess champion.

Antipov edged Polish player GM Jan-Krzystof Duda on a better tie-break score after the latter finished equal in his last-round game against the Dutchman GM Benjamin Bok.

The bronze went to GM Matthias Bluebaum from Germany who remained a full point behind the winners with 9/13.

The event was being held from September 2 to September 15, 2015, in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, together with the FIDE Word Girls Under-20 Championship.

In the women section WFM Nataliya Buksa from Ukraine emerged a sole winner with 10/13 points, leaving the nearest followers, WIM Alina Bivol (Russia) and WGM Zhansaya Abdumallik (Kazakhstan) half a point behind.

Buksa made draw against Azerbaijani WGM Gunnay Mammadzada in the decisive last-round to maintain her half-a-point advantage.

In the meantime WGM Zhansaya Abdumalik didn’t overcome the resistance of WFM Alexandra Makarenko from Russia and also finished equal, while Alina Bivol defeated WIM Filiz Osmanodja to join the medals. Bivol took the silver and Abdumalik remained third.
