World U-16 Youth Chess Olympiad 2015: Iran clinches the title on tie-break |

The World U-16 Youth Chess Olympiad took place from August 19-28, 2015, at the Chinggis Hotel in Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar.
The event was a 10-round Swiss team event, conducted on 4 boards and gathered 159 players from Australia, Belarus, Canada, China, France, Hungary, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Macau, Mongolia, Palau, Russia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Turkey, United States and Uzbekistan.
The tempo of play was 90’ X 40 moves + 30’ + 30” with 15’ default time applied.
The battle for the first place was even and four teams shared the gold at 16 match points each: Iran, India, Russia and Hungary. However, Iran prevailed on a superior tie-break score to clinch the title, while India took the silver medal. Russia remained third and Hungary missed the medals.
The golden team of Iran participated with members: IM Shahin Lorparizangeneh 2425 (5/10), IM Amin Tabatbaei 2458 (9/10), Parham Maghsoodloo 2416 (8/10), Arash Tahbaz 2318 (7.5/10) and Mobina Alinasab 1952 (0/0).
India’s participants were: GM Chithambaram Vr. Aravindh 2505 (7/9), WFM R Vaishali 2307 (7/10), C Sai Vishwesh 2306 (6.5/10), Parab Ritviz 2260 (4.5/6) and Al Muthaiah 2116 (4/5).
The bronze medalists played as follows: IM Saveliy Golubov 2439 (5.5/9), Alexey Sarana 2410 (6.5/9), FM Andrey Esipenko 2403 (5/8), IM Semen Khanin 2352 (7/9) and WIM Dinara Dordzhieva 2316 (3/5).
