„Maria Albulet Memorial” 2015

Already traditional, the Women International Tournament „Maria Albulet Memorial” will be hosted at his 8-th edition between 9-16 September in Braila, by the Municipal Library „Panait Istrati” (the well-known Romanian writer of French language). Dedicated to the memory of WGM Maria Albulet (1932-2005), member of the Romanian national team winner of the silver medal at the Olympiad Emmen 1957, the tournament will have as main guest WGM Marina Makropoulou (Greece), the daughter of our former champion.

After seven editions held in round-robin format, for the first time it will be a Swiss Open this year, giving to a greater number of participants the chance of gaining WGM and WIM norms. The tournament will be conducted by IA Dinu-Ioan Nicula, who was present as arbiter at the Olympiad Tromso 2014. The organizers – Romanian Chess Federation and Municipality of Braila – are offering an attractive prize fund of 2900 euro, the first prize being almost 700 euro.
