Hungarian city of Szeged hosts Leko - Li Chao match |

The City of Szeged and the Hungarian Chess Federation organize a six-game match between Hungarian best player GM Peter Leko and Chinese #2 GM Li Chao.
The event takes place from August 14th to August 20th, 2015, at the IH Event Center and is aimed to help Leko prepare for the upcoming World Cup in Baku. The same time control is being used: 90′/40 moves + 30′ + 30″.
More about Peter Leko: He was born on September 8, 1979 in Subotica, Serbia. He has been living in Szeged since the age of one, where he was awarded honorary citizenship in 2005 by the City Assembly. He has been playing chess since the age of seven. In 1994, he became GM and U16 World champion breaking herewith Fischer’s record. His most important triumphs: Copenhagen (1995), Havana (1997), Yopal (1999), Dortmund (1999), Dubai rapid (2002), World Candidates Dortmund (2002), Linares (2003), Wijk aan Zee (2005), Moscow (2006), ACP Rapid World Cup Odessa (2007), Dortmund (2008)
More about Li Chao: He was born on April 21, 1989 in Taiyuan, Shanxi. In 2007, he became China’s 23rd GM at the age of 18. Li Chao started playing chess at the age of 6, and plays for Beijing Chess Club. In 2005 he earned 6th place at the World Juniors Championship held in Istanbul. Li Chao’s best results are wins in the Scandinavian tournament held in 2007 in Taby, Stochkolm, Sweden, the 4th IGB Dato’ Arthur Tan Malaysia Open held in Kuala Lumpur, the 2007 President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo Cup in Manila, 2nd Philippine International Open in Subic Bay Freeport Zone 2008, 5th IGB Dato’ Arthur Tan Malaysia Open 2008. In September, 2015, he competed at the 5th Russia vs. China match in Ningbo where he scored 3/5 with a performance rating of 2767 for the team (with Wang Yue, Wang Hao, Ni Hua and Bu, Xiangzhi).
The first two games of the match finished in draws, while Li Chao won the third.
