IM-s on top at First Saturday Budapest August events

Balanced fight in the GM group resulted in no title norms this month. However, two of the IM-s, were close to it. The winner, Lizak Peter (HUN), one of the best scorers of the HUN Team Ch. silver medalist Paks SE started with three victories and finally missed the GM norm only with one point.

IM LIZÁK, Péter (HUN)

The co-winner, Kiewra Keaton F. who is nine times Champion of Nebraska (USA) arrived to Budapest in hope of collecting his third GM norm, but he failed to win in the last round. At present, he is a professional chess instructor in Dallas and he definitely showed up excellent practical skills in hardest situations during the tournament. He is really just a small step away of the GM Title.

IM-s dominated the IM section too leaving no chance for the candidates. The winner, Szeberenyi Adam (HUN) has shown his best all this year.

Adam
IM SZEBERÉNYI, Ádám (HUN)

FM Lyell Mark (ENG) has already got all the three IM- norms but needs to reach the 2400 IM threshold. He is a great fighter and has the respect of all players knowing him therefore he is the permanent Chairman of the Appeals Committee when present. Luckily, usually there are not any cases to discuss or judge.
