Dr. Murtaza Ali wins Punjab Chess Championship 2015 Print

First ever FIDE rated Punjab Chess Championship 2015 with biggest ever prize fund of Rs. 370,000/ (3700$) was held from 1-5 August 2015. The venue was Smart Hotel, Liberty Market Lahore. It was a 9 round swiss league event with a time control of 90 Min plus 30 sec increment from move one. Total number of players was 69.

Dr. Murtaza Ali won the event with 7.5/9 points while top seed FM Syed Ahmad Ali 2354 had to be content on 3rd place. Mudasir Iqbal of Multan secured 2nd position.

Nr. Syed Zarrar Ali, President Chess Association of Punjab sponsored the event and was the chief guest on prize distribution ceremony. Mr. Abdus Salim, President Chess Federation of Pakistan could not attend the ceremony due to his busy schedule. Mr. Waqar Ahmad Madni was the Chief Arbiter.
