GM Viktor Laznicka tops 26th Czech Open Pardubice 2015

The 26th International chess and games festival Czech Open 2015 took place from July 16th through August 2nd, in Pardubice, Tipsport arena.

The main tournament Pardubice Open, part of ACP Tour, gathered 289 players, including 34 GMs and 48 IMs. Czech GM Viktor Laznicka was in the lead throughout the whole tournament and a draw in the last round secured him the trophy with 7.5 points.

GM Sergei Movsesian of Armenia remained second, while Czech player GM Robert Cvek surprised with the bronze after starting as twenty first seed. Both players finished the event with 7 points.

The third best performance among the Czech players was by GM Babula (20th place with 6.5 points).

WGM Gunay Mammadzada from Azerbaijan proved to be the best female player.

This year a total of 19 international norms were distributed: 2 GM norms went to Indian players Ghosh and Konguvel, 15 IM, 1 WGM and 1 WIM norms.

Vlastimil Jansa claimed the senior trophy with 6 points and 32nd place, while the best U18 prize went to Ghosh for his 9th place with 6.5 points.

The Ceska Podnikatelsa Pojistovna Open (for players rated below 2400) finished in favour of the Czech player Josef Pribyl who scored 7.5 points, followed by Gennady Kuzmin of Russia and Duc Minh Ngo of Germany.

Batsaikhan Tserendorj of the USA was dominant in Motorgas Open (for players rated below 2100). He scored 8 points, leaving Evgeny Baglaev of Russia and Michaela Nova of Czech Republic half a point behind.

The golden medal at the Dostihovy Spolek Open (for players rated below 1700) went to Viatcheslav Staroverov of Russia who scored 8/9 points. Aida Tukhaeva remained second with 8 points, with best result in the U12 category.
