The 48th Biel/Bienne International super tournament was held from July 18-30, 2015, in Biel/Bienne, a town in Switzerland.
The 19th Category GM tournament with an average of 2720 Elo was won by French player Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.
Vachier-Lagrave’s results took a nosedive recently. He moved from 13th position in January 2015 World ranking list to 26th place in July 2015, meanwhile losing more than 30 Elo points. However, this time he scored 6.5 out of 10 points to break two records.
Vachier-Lagrave became the first player ever to win Biel/Bienne GM tournament four times after lifting the trophy in 2009, 2013 and 2014 and the only winner to clinch the title in three consecutive years. He added 13 new Elo points to his rating to climb up to 16th place in FIDE Top-100.
Radoslaw Wojtaszek emerged clear second with 6 points, leaving the nearest followers, David Navara and Michael Adams, half a point behind.
Pavel Eljanov scored 4.5 points, while Richard Rapport took 2 points.
