The 11th Gazi-Heraklion International chess tournament is held from July 25 to August 1, 2015, at the Greek island of Crete.
The event is organized by ESSK - DOPPAM – DOPAFMAH at the “Apollonia Beach Resort & Spa***** Hotel”, Ammoudara.
The format of the tournament is 9-round Swiss FIDE, open for players rated > 1500 Elo.
Russian GM Alexandr Kharitonov leads the field of 96 players from 12 different countries with 4.5 points out of 5 rounds.
14 players are just half a point behind, while WGM Emilia Djingarova from Bulgaria is currently the best woman with 3.5 points.
The winner will be awarded 1.000 €.
The Grandmaster duels of the forthcoming sixth round are GM David Alberto (2575) – GM Alexandr Kharitonov (2536) and GM Dejan Antic (2502) – GM Aleksander Delchev (2606).
