IM Chandra and FM Shen lead U.S. Junior Closed Championship |

The Chess Club & Scholastic Center of Saint Louis(CCSCSL) is hosting the U.S. Junior Closed Championship from July 7-15, 2015.
The sixth edition of the tournament is a 10-player single round-robin tournament with time control 90’ X 40 moves + 30’ + 30” and it gathers the U.S. nation's top rising stars.
IM Akshat Chandra (2589) maintains the leadership with 5/7 points, scoring three wins and four draws.
FM Arthur Shen (2505) started unconvincingly with 1 point out of 3 rounds, but caught up with Chandra, achieving four consecutive victories. The decisive game between the leaders will be in the forthcoming eighth round.
IM Jeffrey Xiong (2621) is only half point behind Chandra and Shen and eventual victories could decide the trophy in his favor. According to the tournament rules, if two or more players are tied for first place, a playoff will be held to determine the 2015 U.S. Junior Closed Champion.
IM Luke Harmon-Vellotti, FM Ruifend Li and FM Awonder Liang share fifth place at 3,5 points, followed by FM Michael Bodek (3/7), IM Yian Liou (3/7), Mika Brattain (2,5/7) and Curran Han (1,5/7).
