The Asian Schools Chess Championships are returning to Singapore!
From 30 May to 8 June 2015 the Asian Schools Chess Championship will take place at the well appointed Nanyang Technological University Sports & Recreation Centre in Singapore.
Now in its 11th edition, the Asian Schools Championships were first held in Singapore in 2005 and again in 2006 and fittingly returns to its birthplace after ten years.
Records are being broken - no less than twenty countries are participating for the first time, easily beating the fourteen taking part last year in Chinese Taipei and in Sri Lanka the previous year.
Both the Singapore and Chinese Taipei championships also have the highest percentage of foreign players - 78% - making it a truly international Asian event when held in the Asia-Pacific region.
FIDE Arbiters and FIDE Trainers seminars are also being held concurrently.
The organisers are therefore looking forward to welcoming to Singapore the 396 registered players so far from Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, UAE and Uzbekistan!
