GM Radosław Wojtaszek is the winner of the 3rd Polish-Hungarian friendship tournament!
After two days of struggle, we know the winners in Katowice. GM Radosław Wojtaszek (POL) won the tournament (8 points), second place got GM Zbigniew Pakeza (POL), the third player was GM Kacper Piorun (POL). In women’s classification, the first place went to WIM Klara Varga (HUN). WIM Anna Gasik (POL) got the second place; the third place occupied WGM Karina Szczepkowska-Horowska (POL).
Katowice hosted 843 players, among them many Grand Masters and International Masters. Organizers prepared 119 prizes for the participants. Players could also take part in free photo sessions, children were entertained by volunteers. Those attractions made the tournament an extraordinary event.

The third Polish-Hungarian friendship tournament was opened by Polish and Hungarian presidents.
Bronisław Komorowski and Janos Ader took part in opening ceremony which was held before the second round of the tournament. The presidents wished participants to play fair and expressed contentment with their participation in the competition.
The special guest, Judit Polgar, played a game together with a group of children, against Polish Grand Master Radosław Wojtaszek and his team. The game was played on a big chess set. The presidents eagerly observed that special match.
The youngest participants could try many attractions which had been prepared for them. Face painting, balloons and sweets were the presents for the youngest.
After 5 rounds the leaders are Zbigniew Pakleza (POL), Viktor Skliarov (UKR) and Nazar Firman (UKR).
Anna Gasik (POL) and Alicja Śliwicka (POL) are the highest rated women.
