Polish – Hungarian Friendship Chess Tournament

The most spectacular chess event in Poland will take place this weekend in Katowice, Southern Poland.

For the third time chess players from all over the world will have a chance to fight against each other in one of the biggest halls in Europe – The International Conference Centre in Katowice. 

The Centre will host over 800 participants! All of the games will be played at the same time what results in moving 13.000 pieces at the same time.
High level and prestige of the tournament are indicated by presence of two presidents of Poland and Hungary. Bronisław Komorowski and Janos Ader will welcome the players during the opening ceremony.

Silesian Chess Federation and Katowice City Council made big effort in order to invite the best players from all over the world. There will be 12 Grandmasters and 15 International Masters. Among them, Wojtaszek, Bartel, Kovalenko. The highest ranked woman is WGM Joanna Majdan – Gajewska.

The organizers invited a special guest who will come to observe the tournament. It will be… Judit Polgar!

As the last time, organizers prepared many attractions for the youngest players.
