After missing the GM norm by half a point at Hastings Master’s the 15 year old Hungarian boy reached his goal at First Saturday Budapest. His convincing victory did not surprise those who know him. As early as 2009 he became European Champion in his age group (U10) at Fermo (ITA). Two years later he was silver medalist at the Youth World Championship in Caldas Novas (BRA). Last December he won 1st board prize at the Youth Team World Championsip in Győr (HUN).
IM GLEDURA, Benjamin (HUN)
There came a group of Turkmen players returning to the First Saturday tournaments for the third time. Atabayev Yusup had real chances for the GM norm but he was not careful enough in the finish.

The Turkmen group was led and coached by GM Annageldyev Orazly. Their persistent work and studying chess resulted in an IM title norm for the 15 years old Atabayev Saparmyrat. It was the third IM-norm for the young talent so he can get his well-deserved title at the next FIDE Congress. He showed up extraordinary tactical skills.
FM ATABAYEV, Saparmyrat (TKM)
The only one who defeated him was Havanecz Bianka (HUN) who achieved her third WIM-norm. The twenty year old university student studies not only economics but recently started deeper studies in chess. Her dream is to become a member of the National Olympic Team. She is one of the best scorers of her National Champion team, the Aquaprofit Nagykanizsa TSK which is the team of her native town.

The lower rating group which is usually a clash of generations, lined up a balanced field of experienced masters this time. The winner Szlenka Attila (HUN) collected his second gold medal within a year. He always plays tactically aiming at attacking the opponents’ king.
SZLENKA, Attila (HUN)
The youngest participant Kovacs Judit (12, HUN) was equal opponent for all the experienced senior masters.
