The WALTON Home Appliance Premier Division Chess League-2014 began from 12th November 2014 at the Media Center of Bangladesh Olympic Association in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Mr. FM Iqbal Bin Anwar (Dawn) Additional Director and Head of Games & Sports of R.B. Group inaugurated the event to present as chief guest. Mr. K. M. Shahidullah Chairman Tournament Committee preside the ceremony. Mr. Mohammad Jahangir Islam Vice-President, Mr. Gazi Shayiful Tarique General Secretary, Mr. Shamim Khan Joint-Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation and Mr. Mohammed Enayet Hossain President Chess Players Association gave addresses in the inauguration ceremony. Earlier a press-briefing was held on 11th November at the Conference-Room of Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. Mr. Iqbal Bin Anwar (Dawn) Additional Director and Head of Games & Sports of R B Group, Mr. Shibnath Roy Secretary of National Sports Council, Mr. S M Rejoan Alam Shiplu, Additional Director of R B Group, Mr. K M Shahidullah Chairman Tournament Committee, Mr. Gazi Shayiful Tarique, General Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation and Mr. Morsalin Ahmed Secretary Tournament Committee gave addresses in the press-briefing.
Total 9 teams are participating in the highest team chess event in Bangladesh. Teams are accordingly their number in number draw: 1. Sreejan Chess Club, 2. Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club, 3. Sultana Kamal Smirity Pathagar, 4. Bangladesh Navy Chess Team (Junior), 5. Fire-Service & Civil Defense Sports Club, 6. Bangladesh Navy Chess Team, 7. Pritam-Prism Chess Club Narayanganj, 8. Titas Club Chess Team and 9. Leonine Chess Club.
Last three years Premier Chess League champion Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting included two Georgian grandmasters Mchedlishvili Mikhail and Gagunashvili Merab. Other players of Mohammedan are National Champion GM Ziaur Rahman, National Runner-up GM Murshed Niaz, IM Abu Sufian Shakil and FM Rahman Syed Mahfuzur. Bangladesh Navy’s team composition is: FM Rahman Md Taibur, GM Abdulla Al-Rakib, GM Hossain Enamul, IM Minhazuddin Ahmed, FM Ahmed Sk. Nasir and FM Islam Kh. Aminul. Leanine Chess Club included GM Anton Guijarro David of Spain, FM Hasan Mehdi, CM Chowdhury Sohel, CM Hossain Monir, Uten and Rahman Md. Farhadur. Titas Club included FM Uddin Md. Saif, FM Chaterjee Debaraj, Ahmed Safiq, FM Mohammed Abdul Malek, Bhuiyan Golam Mostafa and FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman. Bangladesh Navy (Junior) team included FM Mohammad Javed, Masum Hossain, CM Ahmed Mahtabuddin, S. M. Sharon, Md. Sharif Hossain and Mohammad Sagar. Pritam-Prism Chess Club team compositions are: WFM Zakia Sultana, FM Younus Hasan, S. A. M. Nasir, Md. Jamaluddin, Md. Abzid Rahman and Mohammad Shameem. Players of Sreejan Chess are: Hasan Kayes, Saidul Islam, Hossain Md. Alamgir, Dewan Md. Riad, Hossain Mohammad Ibrahim and Abu Hanif. Fire-Service & Civil Defense included in their team FM Haque Rezaul, Hossain Enayet Mohammed, Mohammed Mainuddin, Barua P. J. Bakul, Alam Md. Badrul and Md. Abu Bakar Siddique. Players of Sultana Kamal’s Pathagar are Islam Sheik Md. Khairul, Islam Nazrul David, Mohammad Din, Islam Md Aminul, Hossain Delwar and Rahman Md. Khalilur. The last team of the final raking will be relegated in the 1st Division of 2015.
