Sonali Bank Sports & Recreation Club became unbeaten champion in the WALTON Home Alliance 1st Division Chess League-2014 Sonali Bank Sports & Recreation Club became unbeaten champion in the Walton Home Appliance 1st Division Chess League-2014 sponsored by renowned company in Bangladesh R. B. Group and organized by Bangladesh Chess Federation which was held at the hall-room of Bangladesh Chess Federation from 27th October to 3rd November 2014 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It’s a second highest team’s event in Bangladesh and FIDE rated players from Bangladesh and India participated. Sonali Bank earned 12 match points and 22 games points. Golden Chess Club became unbeaten Runners-up with 12 match points and 20½ games points. Sonali Bank and Golden Chess earned same match points and their position decided by game points. Players of Sonali Bank are: Md. Saiful Islam Chowdhury, Pratul Chandra Bose, Md. Abu Hanif, Dewan Shahidul Amin, Abdur Rashid and Mohammad Abdur Rakib Pervez. Players of Golden Chess are: Md. Khorshed Alam, Ikramul Haque Siam, Feroz Ahmed, Abdullah Al-Saif, Mohammad Amir Ali Rana and Farjana Hossain Anne. Basir Memorial Chess Club became 3rd with 10 match points; Debdas Biswas Smirity Sangsad became 4th with 8 match points. Other positions are: 5th-Mohakhali Pradip Sangah Match points-4, game points-12½, 6th-Farashganj Sporting Club Match points-4 game points-9½, 7th-Protiva Daba Gosti match points-3 game points-9½ points and 8th-Destiny 2000 Limited match points-3 and game points-5½. Board prizes: 1st Board-Md. Saiful Islam Chowdhury (Sonali Bank) score 100%, 2nd-board: Md. Matiur Rahman (Mamun) (Pradip Sangah) score 83%, 3rd board-Nayan Kumar Mohanto (Debdas Biswas), Md. Abu Hanif (Sonali Bank) and Feroz Ahmed (Golden Chess) score 71% each. 4th board- Abdullah Al-Saif (Golden Chess) 86% and Reserve-1 M.M. Zahirul Islam (Debdas Biswas) 60%. Earlier Renowned and successful organizer of Bangladesh sports arena and Additional Director and Head of Games & Sports of R B Group Mr. F. M. Iqbal Bin Anwar (Dawn) inaugurated the event to present as chief guest. Mr. Mir Md. Motaher Hasan Adviser of Administration of Television Channel ATN Bangla and Ms. Zobera Rahman Linu Sports Ambassador of Walton were present as special guests. Mr. K. M. Shahidullah, Vice-President of Bangladesh Chess Federation preside the ceremony. Mr. Gazi Shayiful Tarique General Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation and Mr. Morsalin Ahmed Joint-Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation gave addresses in the ceremony. Ln. Mazibur Rahman Howladar Executive Member of Bangladesh Chess Federation and Syed Nuruzzaman General Secretary of Shitoryu Karate Federation were present in the ceremony. The event was held in round-robin league system. Champion Sonali Bank and Runner-Up Golden Chess qualified to participate in the Premier Division Chess League for the year 2015.
