Picture-promoting Romanian chess

City Hall of Iasi and Iasi County Chess Association have the honor to invite all chess players to take part in the International Chess Festival "M. Sadoveanu" 29th Edition organized in Iasi, Romania, 19 - 25 August 2014.

Open A – Swiss general system, 9 rounds
Open B – Swiss general system, 9 rounds only for juniors 12 years old (born after 01.01.2012).
All prizes are 5.000 Euro (Open A - 4.300 Euro (first place-700 Euro), Open B – 700 Euro)

Iasi County Chess Association has a wealthy tradition of promoting chess in both national and international plans. Multiple editions of both seniors and juniors National Championships over the time, as well as numerous international tournaments, the most known being the World School Individual Chess Championship 2012 (with a record breaking of 503 players from 36 countries), World Amateur Individual Chess Championship 2013 and Youth Teams Chess European Championship in 2011 and 2013 have been successfully organized in Iasi.
Iasi is a city toped on 7 hills – like Rome – having 350 000 inhabitants. It is situated in the north-east of Romania (400 km of Bucharest). It is a powerfully university, cultural, religious and industrial centre and it is located in the area of the well-known churches and monasteries in the northern Bucovina (Putna, Voronet, Agapia a.s.o.).
