Zenobia Wasif , the defending National Woman Champion has won the 4th National Women Chess Championship held at Faisal Town, Lahore. The last day of the championship proved to be very lucky for the defending Champion as she barely escaped twice against well prepared young talent Maryam Nasir and Nameeqa. Both had winning positions against her but lost their games by making blunders due to time pressure. Also in 5th round, Zenobia was a piece down against Urooj Saeed from Lahore when Urooj made a tactical blunder and threw away her hopes for the championship. In the final standings Zenobia was 1st with 6.5 points, Urooj Saeed was runner up with 6, Ghazala at 3rd position with 5.5. Maryam and Nameeqa scored 5 points each and got fourth and fifth positions respectively. The championship started from 28th March at Lahore. 24 selected woman players participated in the championship on the basis of top 6 from each province.
