A seven member Norwegian delegation made the First Saturday events unique this month. The host town of the forthcoming Chess Olympiad may boast of running a prosperous Chess Club as it representatives have brightly proved it in Budapest. GM Turov Maxim (RUS) not only won the GM and the rapid sections but was successfully coaching six young Norwegian players of Tromso Chess Club. Residing in Tromso with his family he is the main coach of the outstanding club and also the leading chess teacher of Norges Toppidrettsgymnas (NTG) sports school where chess is a part of the curriculum. The trip of the delegation was partly sponsored by FINALE, a significant computer programming company of Tromso and its region.
IGM TUROV (RUS)
FM Kantor Gergely (HUN) was the only player this month who achieved a FIDE IM-Title norm. He started working with IM Hazai Laszlo (HUN) just recently and a quick consolidation of his adventurous style has brought an immediate progress.
FM Kántor, Gergely /HUN/ - 2nd IM-norm
Wang Puchen (NZL) was also not far from a GM norm.

Golubov Saveliy Nr.2 U14 player of Russia appeared for the third time at First Saturday. He almost repeated his success at Chigorin Memorial (St.Petersburg 2013) but missed the IM norm with half a point.

The youngest participant Bohus Adam (12, HUN) won the higher rated FM group. His systematic studies with coach FM Akots Gabor may lead him towards even greater goals.
Bohus Ádám /HUN/
Machlik Edit and Monika (17, NOR) twins, both students at Tromso NTG sports school were equal partners of all experienced male opponents and they may be candidates for a place in their National Olympic Teams. Edit is present U16 Champion of Norway while Monika is former U16 National Champion.
Machlik Monika (NOR) wearing the uniform of a main sponsor (FINALE).
Grundekjon Christian (NOR) co-ordinator of Tromso Chess Club and member of the Olympic Organizing staff could book as many as 125 FIDE-rating points won by the five youth players of his club. Congratulations!
