Cuban Grandmaster Yuniesky Quesada Perez emerged sole winner of the 2nd Washington International after concluding the event with 7,0 points from nine games.
Quesada Perez earned 5000 USD for the effort.
The 2nd Annual Washington International took place on 6-11th August at the Rockville Hilton, 1750 Rockville Pike, Maryland, United States.
The A Section was reserved for players rated over 2100 FIDE or 2200 USCF in order to ensure the possibility to earn norms.
American players Daniel Ludwig and Michael Mulyar secured Grandmaster norms after sharing the second place with Israeli GM Ilya Smirin.
Aleksandr Ostrovskiy (USA) and Shiyam Thavandiran (Canada) have earned IM norms. Ostrovskiy completed all requirements for the title.
The A Section had 61 participants and offered the prize fund of $22,000.
