PARDUBICE OPEN – ELO FIDE and LOK CR credited grand master tournament, part of ACP TOUR

After eight rounds, only one player remained in the lead – GM Nisipeanu from Romania. In the final round he played against Czech GM Martin Petr. Nisipeanu knew that a draw would be enough for him, so after it he became a winner of PARDUBICE OPEN 2013! “Nisipeanu played very well and he deserves the victory. He proved to be very offensive, aggressive and complex player,” said the chess expert of the festival CZECH OPEN, IM Petr Pisk.

The biggest surprise of the grandmaster tournament was the second place of GM Oleksienko from Ukraine. “Oleksienko had really good finish (6 points in last 6 rounds!) and obtained 7.5 from the maximum of 9 points like GM Nisipeanu, which is very good performance on the CZECH OPEN,” said IM Petr Pisk after the final game. Oleksienko’s last challenger was first rated GM Laznicka, who played this game with black for win in very good style, but at one point underestimated Oleksienko’s position and lost. Oleksienko’s play was at very high level not just at this game, but during the whole event. This lost in the final round sent GM Laznicka to 13th place in the tournament.

Very good performance was delivered by players from India. Four players from this country managed to fight their way into the top 20. GM Shyam claimed the third place, after an impressive defeat of IM Dourerassou from France in the final round. “French international master Dourerassou had a very nice tournament, but he lost in his final game. However, he has nothing to regret, because he earned his grandmaster’s norm in Pardubice,” said IM Pisk.

Fourth place in the tournament took GM Lalith from India. Impressive performance showed also IM Das, who ended up eighth and also earned grandmaster’s norm. In his last round, he challenged GM Michalik from Slovakia. “In the eighth round, GM Michalik lost after a big mistake to Nisipeanu and was probably unable to endure the situation mentally, which resulted in his another loss in the final round,” remarked IM Pisk.

This year, the totals of ten norms were distributed: 4 grand masters’, 4 international masters’, and two international mistresses’, as listed below:

• Norms for GM – IM Dourerassou (FRA), IM Das (IND), IM Mozharov (RUS), IM Semcesen (SWE)
• Norms for IM – Pagerka (SVK), Tripishko (UKR), FM Akkozov (KAZ), FM Griffiths (IRL)
• Norms for WIM – WFM Travkina (RUS), WFM Nagarajan (IND)

The best Czech player in the tournament, GM Petr (number twenty one seed), ended up 5th with 7 points. The second and third best performance among the Czech players gave GM Laznicka (13th place with 6 points) and IM Vojtech Plat (25th place with 6 points).

The best woman in the tournament proved to be GM Harika Dronavalli (2489) from India, who finished 62nd. The best woman from the Czech Republic was WIM Kristýna Havlíková (2241) who scored 4 points and ended up 171st.

The trophy for the best senior player went to another Czech player, GM Vlastimil Jansa (2442), who finished 51st with 5.5 points.

Best player in the U18 category was IM Idani (2476) from Iran, who took 29th place with 6 points.

PARDUBICKY KRAJ OPEN – open rating tournament with rating for FIDE

With the total of 7.5 points, FM Fabian Mueller from Germany dominated the PARDUBICKY KRAJ OPEN final table, followed by FM Vladimir Tappyrov from Russia and FM Leonid Nikolaev from Ukraine – both also with 7.5 points. The best Czech performance gave Jan Turner, who finished 7th with 7 points.

ČESKÁ PODNIKATELSKÁ POJIŠŤOVNA OPEN – ELO FIDE < 2200 rating tournament

The 7.5 point winner of this tournament, Jiri Jezbera from Hradec Kralove, also got the title of the best Czech player. Vadin Matsenko from Russia finished after him, with the total score of 7 points. The Russian dominance was confirmed by third place of Vasily Vasilyev.

MOTORGAS OPEN – ELO FIDE < 2000 rating tournament

The golden medal in this tournament went to Yuri Galishnikov from Russia, who scored 8 from the maximum of 9 points. Aisen Metsnikov (RUS, 7.5 points), at the same time the best player in U14 category, finished second, and third spot went also to Russia thanks to Nikita Bogdanov, who also scored 7.5 points, but the auxiliary criteria granted him only bronze. Bogdanov was also the second player in U14 category.

KONTAX OPEN – ELO FIDE < 1800 rating tournament

The golden medal remained in the Czech Republic along with its winner, Patrik Tesar. The second place was earned by Anastasia Mamontova from Russia who also became the best woman in this tournament. Third place belongs to another Czech player, Mark Towse.
