CZECH OPEN 2013 24th year of international chess, bridge and games festival

The 24th International Chess and Games Festival CZECH OPEN started on July 11th. As usual take place in hockey CEZ Arena in Pardubice. The very first tournament of CZECH OPEN was really successful! In KONICA MINOLTA OPEN took place 120 four-member teams, which is highest number in the history of CZECH OPEN. “We are very happy to have 120 teams in this tournament. There are traditionally very strong players, for example GM Kononenko from Russia, who is also going to take place in grandmaster tournament PARDUBICE OPEN here in Pardubice,” said the director of festival Jan Mazuch.
This tournament is also played as Championship of Czech Republic. After seven rounds gold medals went to Russian team Yamal 1, Republic champion was SK Oaza Praha A, who ended up in third place in whole ranking list. On the second place of final ranking was Czech team Platemathics. Silver medals from Czech Republic championship went to SK AD Jicin A, third ended team of SK Lipa A.
After the weekend, the other chess tournaments were proceeding. Bughouse, blitz chess, superblitz and blitz marathon. One of the most star-studded event was the Fischerrandom chess tournament with GM Navara David (2715), GM Lalic Bogdan (2489) and many others.
Another star-studded tournament will be the two-day rapid-chess tournament VLASTIMIL LOUCEK OPEN. There are 31 grandmasters in the start list, among them GM Sergei Movsesian, GM David Navara, GM Schlosser and many others.
Czech Open Festival draws to a phase, when the competitors taking part in the main tournaments meet in the ČEZ Arena. These tournaments will begin on 19th July and continue up to the 28th July.
