The 4th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games started today in Incheon, South Korea, with 50 men and 43 women competing in the Classical events. The Mixed Team events for Rapid and Blitz formats will be played from 4 to 6 July. A total of 26 teams are representing their respective National Olympic Committees.
The Asian Indoor Games were inaugurated in 2003 by Thailand. Chess was included in the second and third editions in 2005 Macau and 2007 Vietnam. The first Asian Martial Arts Games took place in 2009. Under the auspices of the Olympic Council of Asia, the two multisport games (AIMAG) are combined this year. The disciplines include Billiard Sports, Bowling, Chess & Go, e-Sports, DanceSport, Futsal, Indoor Kabaddi, Kickboxing & Muay, Kurash as well as Short Course Swimming 25m. More 2,400 athletes representing 44 NOCs compete for 100 Gold Medals at stake from 26 June to 6 July.
