chess newsThe Cherry Blossom Classic was held on 19-21st April at the Mariott Washington Dulles Airport, 45020 Aviation Drive, Sterling VA 22166, Virginia.

104 players competed in four sections over the six rounds of Swiss pairings.

The Open section with 32 participants is rated with FIDE. Sean Vibbert (2337) convincingly won the group with perfect 6/6 score. IM Justin Sarkar (2510) finished second with 5/6 points.

The Reserve section (U2000) had 41 participants. Ryan Xu (1861) was the clear winner with 5/6 points.

The Amateur section (U1600) featured 31 participants. Evan Maxwell Ling (1484) took the first place with 5,5/6 points.
