8th Bangladesh Games began form 20th April and it will be held up to 28th April. There are 31 disciplines in the 8th Bangladesh Games. Usually Bangladesh Games are held after 4 years but this time it is holding after 11 years. Bangladesh Olympic Association organised Bangladesh Games and for the first time they included chess as a new discipline of the Games.

There are 3 chess events in the 8th Bangladesh Games 2013. Chess events are: 1. Classical Chess Mixed Team 2. Men Individual Rapid and Women Individual Rapid.

Men Individual Rapid and Women Individual Rapid were held on 21st and 22nd April. Both events were held in 9 round Swiss-League system. 94 players including 5 grandmasters and 2 International Masters from around 60 divisions, districts, forces, Universities and other government organisations participated in the Men Rapid Individual Rapid Chess.

GM Enamul Hossain of Bangladesh Nave achieved Gold Medal, GM Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh Ansar achieved Silver Medal and FM Kh. Aminul Islam achieved Bronze Medal in Men Individual to become accordingly 1st, 2nd and 3rd. In the Women Rapid Individual 50 female players including 2 WIM from divisions, districts, forces, Universities and other government organisations participated. WIM Shamima Akter Liza achieved Gold Medal, WIM Rani Hamid of Titas Gas T. & D. Co Ltd. achieved Silver Medal and Shamiha Sharmin Shimmi achieved Bronze Medal in the Women Individual became accordingly 1st 2nd and 3rd.

The Classical Chess Mixed Team Event began from 23rd April. The team championship is being held in 7 round Swiss-League System. 18 teams are participating in the team event. GM Abdullah Al-Rakib, GM Enamul Hossain, GM Reeefat Bin Sattar, FM Taibur Rahman, WFM Nazrana Khan and Shamiha Sharmin Shimmi are in Bangladesh Navy team, GM Ziaur Rahman, GM Niaz Murshed, IM Minhazuddin Ahmed, FM Kh. Aminul Islam, WIM Shamima Akter Liza and Sharmin Sultana Shirin are in Bangladesh Ansar and IM Abu Sufian Shakil, FM Sk. Nasir Ahmed, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, FM Mehdi Hasan, WIM Rani Hamid and Farjana Hossain Anne are in Titas Gas Transmission & Distribution Co. Ltd. The Classical Chess Mixed Team Event will be held up to 27th April.
