Open Chess tournament, 18th-27th March 2013
FM Hujbert Florian won the 29th Budapest Spring Festival Open
40 participants of 9 countries gathered in the Hotel MEDOSZ Budapest for the traditional Budapest Spring chess event. FM Hujbert Florian (HUN) proved that his first GM norm performed two weeks earlier at First Saturday GM at the same venue did not happen just accidentally or by luck. Again he showed up outstandingly high quality chess. He was the only one left unbeaten.
FM Hujbert, Flórián /HUN/, the winner
Koczo Kristof (HUN) had a great finish and his goal to reach the FIDE-Master title has come closer.
Koczo, Kristof /HUN/ - 2nd place
IM Nagy Ervin Dr. (HUN) who is a doctor of psychology in civilian life successfully returned to competitive chess.
Dr Nagy, Ervin /HUN/, 3rd place
The best woman player as young as 14, Gal Hanna Krisztina (HUN) lost her good chance for her first WIM norm in the last round.
Gál, Hanna /HUN/

The event run through in a friendly spirit with all foreigners satisfied with the playing conditions. The player from the most far away was Lim, Kian Hwa from Malaysia.
Lim, Kian Hwa (Malaysia)
Another bright spot of the tournament was an Asian woman player Allahverdi Maryam from Iran.
Allahverdi, Maryam /IRI/
They were tough opponents for everyone showing that difference in level of chess is fading away between the two continents.
The next events organized in the large and bright Conference Hall of the Hotel MEDOSZ are the continuing First Saturday series scheduled to 6-17th April.
These events are introduced by a 9 rounds Swiss 15 minutes each FIDE-Rated Rapid Chess event on the 5th of April.
More info and all the games are available at www.firstsaturday.hu Contact: Nagy Laszlo IO, Tournament Director Written by: IM Miklos Orso, International Arbiter
