There were two European Champions participating in the First Saturday tournaments last month but the level was even higher in March since there were two World Champions and two European Champions playing this month.
14 years old IM Duda Jan Krzysztof (POL) U10 World Champion (2008, Vung Tau, VIE) who is also U14 European Champion (2012, Praha, CZE) convincingly won the First Saturday GM tournament leaving only two draws to his opponents topping the GM norm with a whole point extra. It has been his second GM norm after being co-winner of Olomouc Chess Summer GM tournament (CZE) last year. He came to Budapest with his trainer, IM Leszek Ostrowski.

The IM section lined up another World Champion. 13 years old Bai Jinshi (CHN) U10 World Champion 2009 (Antalya, TUR) hoped to achieve his first IM norm and was only half a point away from it. Next time he is going to return to Budapest playing in the GM section aiming at even greater achievements.

However, another Chinese player, the only female participant achieved her goal. Zhou Guijue (CHN) amazed all spectators not only by her special beauty and fancy Chinese dresses but playing at high level she performed her second WIM norm in Hungary within a month.

The FM section as always was a clash of generations. A rare occasion, that this time not a talented young, but the most experienced player Juracsik Jozsef (HUN) came as first.

9 years old FM Krstulovic Alex (HUN) U8 European Champion 2011 (Albena, BUL) had a great start but got tired by the end. Even so he won the most number of rating points in the group.
