From 3rd-9th this month the Central America Games were held in San Jose, Costa Rica.
The Games, part of the Olympic Cycle, is a mini Olympiad in which all sport take place, being a matter of honour for the nations of this area.. Chess participate as a sport.
The fight for medals, specially the gold ones are hard and the federations prepares for the contest a lot.
The event, a Round Robin Team Tournament, had the presence of Costa Rica, El Salvador Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama, was excellent under the administration of the Central Chess Federation of Costa Rica under the direction of its President Mr. Mauricio Castro.
Stress was noted since the first round and the event finished in a dramatic end in which El Salvador got first place in both categories, Absolute and Ladies against all forecasts.
Next Central America Games will be held in 2017 in Nicaragua.
