The 5th Chennai International Open Chess Tournament will take place on 15-23rd January at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, India.
The tournament is organised by Sports Promotion Foundation, Chennai, under the guidance of Tamilnadu State Chess Association & All India Chess Federation.
Tournament Schedule:
Arrival - 15th January 2013 at 08:00 hrs. Inauguration - 15th January 2013 at 14:00 hrs.

Entry Fee

Maximum entry for Tamilnadu girls Rs. 3500/-(No lodging will be provided for Chennai and adjoining districts’ players)
No request towards waiver of entry fee will be entertained.
There will be a discount of 15% of entry fees (other than Tamilnadu players) for those who remit their entry fees on or before 30.11.2012.
The last date of entry: 25th Dec 2012 Entries with late fee of Rs. 500 26th Dec 2012 to 10nd Jan 2012 Please note that this entry fee structure is valid only until 25th December 2011. Thereafter till 10th January 2013 the participants will have to pay Rs. 500/- extra. Entries will also be accepted at the venue till 09:00 Hrs. on 15th January 2013 with a late fee of Rs. 1,000/-. No request towards waiver of entry fee or waiver of late fee will be entertained.

The organizers / TNSCA / AICF have the right to accept or reject any entry without assigning any reason thereof.
Registration: AICF registration fee for 2012-13 is compulsory for all Indian participants. The registration fee of Rs. 250/- will be accepted at the venue for the convenience of the players.
Accommodation: All participants will be provided free accommodation (other than Chennai and adjoining District players). The accompanying persons will have to bear their own expenses.
Weather: The Weather in Chennai during January is expected to be pleasant.
Tournament Rules:
System of Play: The tournament will be conducted as per FIDE Laws of Chess and FIDE Swiss System with 11 rounds.
Tie Break: In case of a tie, the latest FIDE Rules shall come in to effect. The Cash prizes however will not be shared.
