Argentinian Chess Championship Print

The 86th Argentinian Chess Championship took place from 4th to 12th July at the Chamber of Senators of the Province of Buenos Aires. 74 players, including 7 Grandmasters and 10 International Masters, competed in the 11-round Swiss event.

After the thrilling last round a group of five players landed on the shared first place with 8 points each.

Martin Lorenzini claimed the title of the national champion thanks to the best tiebreak score.

Lorenzini and GM Sandro Mareco qualify for the Argentinian national team in the upcoming Chess Olympiad in Istanbul.
