![]() India dominated the medal race with a combined tally of 34 Gold, 24 Silver and 17 Bronze medals in all three events at the Asian Youth Chess Championships held 25 June to 2 July 2012 in Hikkaduwa in Sri Lanka. India topped the individual medal lists also in all three categories earning 5 Gold, 6 Silver & 7 Bronze in Classical Chess, 5 Gold, 8 Silver & 5 Bronze in Rapid Chess and 6 Gold, 5 Silver & 5 Bronze in Blitz Chess events. Asian Chess Federation Secretary General Hisham Al Taher awarding medals for girls teams.The Asian Youth Chess Championships were organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka in a very grand scale at Chaaya Tranze Beach Resort with the support of two other Hotels, Hotel Citrus and Hotel Coral Sands. The lovely stay of 8 days with the Sri Lankan Hospitality was a great experience for all those young players attended. Sri Lanka Chess Federation president Upali Gunasekara awarding trophies and medals to girls individual. Girish Koushik (U-16), R Vaishali (U-12, girls), N Priyanka (U-10, girls), R Praggnanandhaa (U-8) and Sanskruti Wankhade (U-6, girls) won the Gold Medals for India. Asadi Motahare (U-8,girls), Gholami Aryan (FM) (U-12), Derakhshani Dorsa (WCM) (U-14, Nguyen Anh Khoi (FM) (U-10) and Nguyen Thi Mai Hung (WIM) (U-18, girls) won classical Gold Xiao Yiyi (U-16, girls) and Zhao Zhouqiao Chn (U-18) won Golds for China. Mongolia had 1 Gold medal from Yesuntumur Tugstumur in Under 6 open category. Sri Lanka had only one Bronze Medal by Omaya Tashini Jayathilake in Under 6 Girls.
