 The International Championship of Slovakia will be held from 7th to 15th July 2012 in Banská Štiavnica for the third year in succession. The Championship is managed by SSZ, Town and SK Banska Stiavnica, and will be played as Open A and Open B.
In addition, Štiavnica Bughouse Championship is set for 11th July and Štiavnica Blitz Championship set for 12th July. Total prize fund for all events is 8.260,- €.
Famous Grandmasters Sergei Movsesian and Zoltan Almasi will host a simultaneous exhibition and play a blindfold game with live chessmen on the town square on 16th July.
The playing venue for the International Championship of Slovakia is the Cultural and public centre, Street Kammerhofská 1, Banská Štiavnica (near Hotel Grand-Matej).
Top rated players are GM Babula Vlastimil CZE 2563, GM Markos Jan SVK 2542, GM Petrik Tomas SVK 2530, GM Ftacnik Lubomir SVK 2516, GM Michalik Peter SVK 2505 and GM Andreev Eduard UKR 2499.
