Spanish Fiesta at First Saturday Budapest June 02-12 Print

Franco Alonso Alejandro a 29 year old man of San Sebastian won the First Saturday GM tournament this month performing his first GM norm. He built firm positions and patiently overplayed his opponents in the middle-games.

He was accompanied with three Spanish friends and spending a pleasant time in Budapest they had every reason to have a fiesta after the last round.

Rajlich Iweta (POL) could not repeat her outstanding performance of the previous month.

The IM sections brought success for young Chinese girls as two of them, Wang Doudou and Xu Huahua, performed WIM norms causing hard times in all games to their male opponents.

They play far much better than their present ratings. IM Galyas Miklos (HUN) as favorite played at high level and his victory was convincing and unquestionable. He should play again in the GM section instead.
