5th Mayor's Cup International Chess Tournament Print

Mumbai_ChessTop Grandmasters from 10 countries will fight it out for the honors in the "5th Mayor's Cup International Chess Tournament" starting on 7th June 2012, which is hosted by esteemed Chetna College Bandra.

The Tournament carries a total prize money of Rs. 15,25000/-, which is the highest of the country, with a first prize of Rs. 3,01,000. This is a golden opportunity for the aspiring players to achieve their grandmasters (GM) and international masters (IM) norms and title.

A total of 17 Grandmasters apart from 35 International Masters and Women Grandmasters from 11 countries have been confirmed till date. The countries are India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, USA, Nepal, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Hungery, Russia, Kazakhstan. Philippines.

GM Alexei Aleksandrov from Belarus (ELO 2606) is the top seed and defending champion. GM B Adhiban (ELO 2555) will be the top seed from India.
