World School Chess Championship came to an end. After nearly two years of work and hopes, Romanian Chess Federation, Iasi County Chess Association managed to hold the greatest tournament in the world chess school. Attended by over 500 children from four continents with 36 countries to start, it was a record in this competition, compared to other editions. Our guests of honor were: Mr. David Jarrett, FIDE Special Projects, ISCU President Mr. Kostyev Alexander, ISCU Vice President Ms. Elizabeta Polihroniade and Mr. Ion Dobronauteanu, Vice President of European Chess Federation. World School Chess Championship which held in Iasi had some very successful moments: opening ceremonies, two press conferences - in Union Square, the central square and closing ceremony that were above all expectations. Thanks to all our collaborators, but especially Iasi Municipality and Mayor Gheorghe Nichita who has been heavily involved in organizing of this tournament, from all points of view; without this support, organization and smooth running of the championship with certainly suffer. In the end, all participants were very pleased, enjoyed the city, despite the promising modernization works, they will return whenever they get the chance in the capital of Moldova province.
We are grateful to FIDE and ISCU for their support and assistance.
